Order of Canada Investiture Ceremony – October 2008
Order of Canada investiture ceremony at the Citadel in Quebec City, October 10, 2008. This ceremony is held at the historic Citadel in honour of the 400th anniversary of the founding of Quebec City. The ceremony honours distinguished Canadians for their outstanding achievements and service to the country. Governor General Michaëlle Jean makes opening remarks and appoints 20 Canadians to the Order. Among the recipients at this ceremony were: Dr. Henry Morgentaler, advocate for women's reproductive rights; poet and novelist, George Elliott Clarke; and the Honourable Louise Arbour, former Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
