Public Record - 2008 Discrimination Prevention Forum (Part 1 of 4)

This national conference was organized by the Canadian Human Rights Commission and held in Ottawa, from October 27 to 29, 2008. This event brought together decision makers from the government, the private sector and non-profit organizations. It sought to encourage discussion on important issues related to the prevention of discrimination and promotion of human rights in the workplace.

In this October 28th session, participants discussed reasonable accommodation in the workplace, with particular emphasis on accommodation for religious reasons. Among the panelists were Julius Grey (constitutional and civil liberties attorney), Pearl Eliadis (human rights lawyer), and Mireille Bergeron (Labour Law Division, Bell Canada).
