French as a Language for Everything and Everyone?
The Institut du Nouveau Monde hosts a conference entitled "French as a Language for Everything and Everyone?,” Toronto, Ont., April 3–4, 2009. This April 3rd session features a panel discussion on ways to make French the language of social cohesion in Quebec. The panellists are Dominique Ollivier (executive director, Institut de coopération pour l'éducation des adultes), May Chiu (community organizer responsible for immigrant and racialized women, Fédération des femmes du Québec), Thomas Mulcair (NDP MP for Outremont, Que.), Marie-Thérèse Chicha, (professor, School of Labour Relations, Université de Montréal), and Gérald Larose (visiting professor, School of Social Work, Université du Québec à Montréal).
