Public Record - Implementation of Aboriginal Land Claims Agreements


The Land Claims Agreements Coalition hosts its third National Conference on the Implementation of Modern Aboriginal Land Claims Agreements, Ottawa, Ont., May 12–15, 2009. This year’s theme is "Claiming Our Future: Implementing Land Claims Agreements for Social and Economic Prosperity.” The conference brings together more than 200 Aboriginal leaders, members of the business community, policy makers, and academics.

This second session on May 14th features a panel discussion, which includes Mike Smith (chief, Kwanlin Dün First Nation), Richard Nerysoo (president, Gwich’in Tribal Council), Joe Linklater (chief and chairman, Gwich’in Council International), Michael Byers (professor, University of British Columbia), and John Noble (retired Canadian diplomat). Paul Kaludjak (president, Nunavut Tunngavik Inc.) makes opening remarks.
