40 Years of Official Languages in Canada – September 9, 2009 (Part 4 of 6)
The Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages hosts a symposium entitled “40 Years of Official Languages in Canada: Our History and the Path Ahead,” Ottawa, Ont., September 9–10, 2009. During this September 9th session, entitled “The Former Commissioners: Their Perspective on the Evolution of Official Languages,” three former commissioners discuss the successes and challenges of the last forty years of the Official Languages Commission. The panellists are Keith Spicer (commissioner, 1970–1977), Maxwell Yalden (commissioner, 1977–1984), Victor Goldbloom (commissioner, 1991–1999), and Dyane Adam (commissioner, 1999–2006). Graham Fraser (Commissioner of Official Languages) moderates. Later, panellists take questions from symposium attendees.
