Public Record - The New Africa


The Canadian Council on Africa hosts a conference on Africa–Canada relations, Ottawa, Ont., October 2, 2009. The conference theme is “The New Africa: Redrawing the Blueprint for the Canada–Africa Partnership.”

During the first plenary session, entitled “Presenting the New Africa,” experts assess major changes occurring on the continent over the last few years. The speakers are Olayemi Akapo (advisor, Global Trust SARL), Huguette Labelle (chair of the board, Transparency International), Oscar Boloko (vice-president, African Diaspora Association of Canada), and Amina Salum Ali (African Union ambassador to the United States). After speaking, the panellists respond to questions from audience members.
