2009 Halifax International Security Forum (Part 4 of 8)
The Halifax International Security Forum is held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, November 20–22, 2009. This conference is the first of its kind in North America and addresses the top global security challenges facing the transatlantic community. In this third panel discussion on November 21st, entitled “Arctic Security: the New Great Game?,” panellists discuss a range of issues related to changing dynamics in the Arctic. The panellists are General Walter Natynczyk (Canada's Chief of Defence Staff), General Victor E. Renuart (commander, United States Northern Command), Espen Barth Eide (Norway's State Secretary for Defense), and Stephen M. Carmel (senior vice-president, Maritime services, Maersk Line, Ltd.). Journalist Jamie McIntyre moderates the discussion. Discussion is then opened up to forum attendees.
