IDRC: Africa Conference, Green Revolution
Africa's New Frontier: Innovation, Technology, Prosperity The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade as well as the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) organized this two-day conference in Ottawa, from February 4 to 5, 2010. The conference looked at the technology and innovative tools that are allowing the continent's citizens to thrive in the 21st century. In this February 4th panel, Gebisa Ejeta (winner of the 2009 World Food Prize), Akin Adesina (vice-president of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) in Kenya), Jean Lebel (director of environment and natural resource management at the IDRC), Nicolas Simard (Manager and Senior Analyst, Strategic Planning and Analysis, West and Central Africa Directorate, CIDA) and Blair Rutherford (director of the Institute of African Studies at Carleton University) discussed the green revolution that is taking place in Africa's agricultural sector.
