On March 8, 2010, Liberal MP Keith Martin and Maureen McTeer, Canadian representative of the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood, hosted an all-party public event on Parliament Hill entitled "Canada's Role in Saving Women and Children." The first panel ("What is the Challenge? Facing Facts & Seeing Faces") featured Rosemary McCarney (president and CEO of Plan Canada) and Bridget Lynch (president, International Confederation of Midwives).
