2010 Couchiching Institute Annual Conference – August 8 (Part 6 of 6)

The Couchiching Institute on Public Affairs held its 79th annual summer conference in Orillia, Ont., from August 5th to 8th, 2010. This year’s theme was “Watershed Moment or Wasted Opportunity.” Participants examined the global economic meltdown and how it has changed views on the economy, the role of the state, and public policy. This August 8th panel, titled “Wasted Opportunity? Investing in the Long Term”, featured presentations by Thomas Homer-Dixon (CIGI chair of global systems at the Balsillie School of International Affairs), Jeff Rubin (former CIBC chief economist) and Velma McColl (principal, Earnscliffe Strategy Group).
