Public Record - GG Women's Conference Sept. 9 Part 1


Governor General Michaëlle Jean hosted a conference at Rideau Hall entitled "Together for Women's Security" from September 9th to 10th. This first session on September 9th included introductory remarks by the Governor General and a panel discussion entitled "After 50 years, where are we?" The participants were: Constance Backhouse (Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa) and Lucie Lamarche (Professor and Research Director of the Human Rights Research and Education Centre at the University of Ottawa). Former prime minister Kim Campbell addressed the conference in a pre-recorded video message at the end of the session.
