80th ANNUAL COUCHICHING CONFERENCE

The Couchiching Institute on Public Affairs held its 80th annual summer conference in Orillia (Ont.) from August 4th to 7th, 2011. This year's theme was "From the Ground Up: Civic Engagement in Our Time". The first panel on August 5th was entitled "The roots of civic engagement." The panellists were Ovide Mercredi (National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations from 1991-1997), Dave Meslin (Urban Activist) and Marcel Lauzière (President, Imagine Canada).
