Public Record - War on Women: Time for Action to End Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict


NOBEL WOMEN’S INITIATIVE

A panel discussion was held in Ottawa, on May 26th, 2011, to examine the issue of sexual violence during armed conflict. The event coincided with the launch of a report by the Nobel Women’s Initiative entitled “War on Women: Time for Action to End Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict.” The Participants were Jody Williams (Nobel Peace Laureate, 1997), Mairead Maguire (Nobel Peace Laureate, 1976), Shirin Ebadi (Nobel Peace Laureate, 2003), Doris Buss (Associate Professor of Law, Carleton University), Charlotte Isaksson (Senior Gender Adviser, Swedish Armed Forces) and Wangu Kanja (Survivor-Activist, Kenya).
