In the third session of the conference Canada’s North Beyond 2011, panellists examine ways to meet the housing, food, employment and social-services needs of northern communities. The conference is taking place in Edmonton, Alta., from October 11 to 13, 2011, and is hosted by the Conference Board of Canada.

This discussion on October 12, 2011, features speeches by Edward S. Kennedy (the president and chief executive officer of The North West Company Inc.), Tom Kerwin (the manager of the Northern Housing Centre at the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation), and Madeleine Redfern (the mayor of Iqaluit, Nunavut). The panel is moderated by Gabriela Sparling (the Northwest Territories deputy minister of Aboriginal Affairs).
