Public Record - Canada 2020 Innovation Conference - Canada-U.S. University Partnerships


On November 2, 2011, Canada 2020 and the U.S. Embasssy in Ottawa co-hosted an innovation conference on "The Canada–U.S. Partnership: Enhancing the Innovation Ecosystem".

In the second panel discussion, Robert Birgeneau (chancellor of the University of Califronia at Berkeley), Stephen Toope (president of the University of British Columbia), Feridun Hamdullahpur (president of the University of Waterloo), and Ronald Daniels (president of Johns Hopkins University) discussed how universities are central to the North American innovation ecosystem and if we need a culture shift in universities on both sides of the border.
