The International Institute of Communications (IIC) Canada held its 2011 annual conference in Ottawa from November 28th to 29th. This year's theme was: "Competition, Innovation and Applications: Towards a Digital Economy for Canada."

This November 28th session, titled "Copyright and the Digital Economy" featured Margot Patterson (counsel, Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP), Jeremy de Beer (associate professor, University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law), Paul Spurgeon (vice president, Legal Services and General Counsel, SOCAN), Ariel Thomas (associate, Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP) and Stephen Zolf (partner, Heenan Blaikie LLP).
