The International Institute of Communications (IIC) Canada held its 2011 annual conference in Ottawa from November 28th to 29th. This year's theme was: "Competition, Innovation and Applications: Towards a Digital Economy for Canada."

This November 28th session discussed "Is public broadcasting still vital in today's world? Do we still need public service broadcasters?"The participants on this panel were Marie-France Bazzo (producer and host, Les Productions Bazzo Bazzo), Patrick Beauduin (executive director of radio, Radio-Canada), Ezra Levant (news anchor, Sun News Network), Glenn O'Farrell (président et chef de la direction, GroupeMédia TFO) and Carol Off (CBC Radio.)
