On March 9 and 10, the 2012 Manning Networking Conference took place in Ottawa. In the fourth panel discussion of the first day, Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver, Dawn Farrell (president and CEO of TransAlta Corporation), Nancy Olewiler (economics professor at Simon Fraser University), and Robert Blakely (director of Canadian affairs at AFL-CIO) discussed the government’s plans for streamlining the approval process for large-scale energy and resource-related projects.
