On March 22, 2012, in Montreal, a conference was organized titled “Election Day in the U.S.: Setting the Scene for November.” The first panel, “Republican Primaries: Explaining the Results and Assessing What They Mean for the Future of the GOP,” featured Dante Scala (associate professor of political science, University of New Hampshire), Sean Trende (senior elections analyst, Real Clear Politics) and Kate Zernike (national correspondent, New York Times).
