Public Record - Arar +10: Judicial Reflections on National Security and Human Rights

Arar +10: National Security and Human Rights A Decade Later

This keynote panel features three judges who have presided over important judicial inquiries dealing with national security in Canada over the past ten years, Hon. Dennis O'Connor (Commission of Inquiry into the Actions of Canadian Officials in Relation to Maher Arar), Hon. John Major (Commission of Inquiry into the Investigation of the Bombing of Air India Flight 182), and Hon. Frank Iacobucci (Internal Inquiry into the Actions of Canadian Officials in Relation to Abdullah Almalki, Ahmad Abou-Elmaati and Muayyed Nureddin). The participants provide insight into the commissions they presided over, the challenges they faced, the outcomes from the reports they delivered, and what, if anything, they would have done differently if they had to do it all over again.
