Modern Makers of Canada 2016
The Institute on Governance holds the Modern Makers of Canada 2016, an event honouring the innovation of Canadian municipal leaders. Co-chaired by MPs Lisa Raitt and Nathan Cullen, the event features remarks by Amarjeet Sohi (Minister of Infrastructure and Communities), John McCallum (Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship) and Adam Vaughan (Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister (Intergovernmental Affairs). Two panel discussions are held featuring Canadian mayors. The first panel on infrastructure and immigration features Hazel McCallion (former Mayor of Mississauga), Denis Coderre (Mayor of Montreal) and Brad Woodside (Mayor of Fredericton). The second panel on innovation in local governance and sustainability features Madeleine Redfern (Mayor of Iqaluit), Jim Watson (Mayor of Ottawa) and Mike Savage (Mayor of Halifax). (March 7, 2016)
