Canada 150 Symposium – Welcome Address and Indigenous Peoples

Canada 150 Symposium

Held in the Senate Chamber, this two-day event celebrates the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation. Hear from prominent Canadians as they discuss the past, present and future of the nation.

The first session includes welcoming remarks by Senate Speaker George Furey and Governor General David Johnston. Later, panellists Phil Fontaine (former AFN National Chief) and Ellen Gabriel (former president of the Quebec Native Women’s Association) discuss Indigenous peoples: from marginalization to a nation-to-nation relationship.
