Governor General Hosts Panel on Journalism in Canada
Governor General Julie Payette welcomes members of the media, communications industry and academia to Rideau Hall in Ottawa for a panel on the challenges that public service journalists face in the age of "fake news" and misinformation. Former investigative journalist Alison Crawford sits down with David Akin (chief political correspondent, Global News), Althia Raj (Ottawa bureau chief, HuffPost Canada), Christopher Waddell (program director for Carleton University's Bachelor of Media Production and Design program), and Pierre-Paul Noreau (president and editor-in-chief, Le Droit). The panel discussion takes place before the presentation ceremony for the 2018 Michener Award for excellence in public service journalism. (June 14, 2019)
