Public Record - 2004 Trudeau Public Policy Conference (Part 1 of 3)


The Trudeau Foundation hosts its first Trudeau Public Policy Conference in Montreal, Que., October 14, 2004.

In a session entitled “Sharing Knowledge Across Cultural Boundaries and Security Barriers,” Boaventura De Sousa Santos (World Social Forum) discusses the notion of “Western bias” in popular conceptions of knowledge. Trudeau Foundation fellow Janice Stein speaks about knowledge in a cultural context, focusing on the disproportionate global influence of wealthy and powerful societies. The conversation is moderated by journalist Ann Medina.

Also speaking at the conference are Justin Trudeau, Roy Heenan (the chair of the board of directors of the Trudeau Foundation) and Trudeau Foundation president Stephen Toope.
