Public Record - Managing the Canada–U.S. Relationship


The Summit Institute hosts an international forum on managing Canada–U.S. relations in Ottawa, Ontario, December 5, 2003.

In a session entitled “Securing America’s Open Society,” Eduardo Aguirre (junior director of the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services) presents a speech in which he calls for vibrant, productive, and co-operative bilateral relationship between Canada and the U.S. Mr. Aguirre discusses issues such as the 2001 creation of the Smart Border Declaration Action Plan agreement and risk management for the Canada–U.S. border. Herb E. Gray (chair of the Canadian Section of the International Joint Committee of Canada and the U.S.) introduces Mr. Aguirre’s speech.
