Public Record - The Hidden Pierre Trudeau (Part 7 of 9)

Proceedings of the conference “The Hidden Pierre Trudeau,” at St. Jerome’s University, Waterloo, Ont., May 9–10, 2003.

In this May 10th session, former deputy prime minister Allan MacEachen discusses the relationship between faith and politics in his own life and in that of Mr. Trudeau. Drawing on a series of colourful anecdotes, Mr. MacEachen recalls an era in which politicians were expected to treat religion with deference and respect. John English (University of Waterloo) and Jim Coutts (the former principal secretary to Mr. Trudeau) make opening remarks; Ken McLaughlin (St. Jerome's University) makes closing remarks.
