Debate opens with questions about the government’s rejection of a foreign takeover bid by Malaysian oil company Petronas. Ted Menzies (the minister of state for finance) fields inquiries about a Globe and Mail article alleging that the government plans to privatize the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. There are also questions on the Parliamentary Budget Officer’s intention to take several deputy department heads to federal court over failures to provide requested budget information.
