Question Period - November 1, 2012

The government faces a number of questions about its foreign takeover rules in light of a Chinese bid for Canadian oil company Nexen. Pierre Poilievre, the parliamentary secretary to the minister of transport, infrastructure and communities, responds to allegations of voter suppression in the riding of Guelph, Ont., during the 2011 federal election; questions focus on testimony given by Michael Sona, a former Conservative Party staffer allegedly involved in the suppression effort.

The government is also asked about funding for Service Canada and about the final report of the Cohen Commission on declining sockeye salmon populations in British Columbia’s Fraser River.
