Opposition leader Thomas Mulcair opens debate with inquiries about residency and housing expenses claimed by senators. Mr. Mulcair’s questions come after the release of a Senate audit that unearthed questionable housing allowance claims by senators Patrick Brazeau, Mac Harb, and Mike Duffy.

Public Works Minister Rona Ambrose faces a barrage of inquiries about the government’s management of the Joint Support Ship Project, while Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird is questioned at length about changes to Employment Insurance eligibility criteria. Government members are also asked to comment on cuts to VIA Rail’s operating budget.
