1st Session—35th Parliament

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien faces renewed questions from Lucien Bouchard (the leader of the Official Opposition) about the role of the federal government in the campaign leading up to the October 30, 1995, Quebec referendum on sovereignty; Mr. Bouchard alleges that Industry Canada is using federal subsidies to entice Quebec-based corporations into the “no” campaign. Later, Mr. Chrétien responds to allegations that the Department of National Defence falsified documents related to the ongoing Somalia affair.
