1st Session—35th Parliament
In the aftermath of the October 30, 1995, Quebec referendum on sovereignty, Deputy Prime Minister Sheila Copps and Marcel Massé (Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs) respond to calls for constitutional reform and face questions about the right of Quebecers to hold referendums. Anne McLellan (Minister of Natural Resources) discusses the harmonization of provincial environmental regulations. Lloyd Axworthy (Minister of Employment and Immigration) is asked about cuts to Unemployment Insurance. During the course of debate, both Gilles Duceppe and Michel Bellehumeur are ejected from the House by Speaker Gilbert Parent for making unparliamentary comments about Ms. Copps.
