Interim NDP leader Nycole Turmel commented on the ceremony that was held today on Parliament Hill in recognition of Canadian troops who served in the Libyan mission, and on the creation of an advisory committee that will study the use of French in businesses that fall under federal jurisdiction.

NDP Treasury Board critic Alexandre Boulerice and Bloc Québécois MP André Bellavance also commented on the advisory committee and on the Libyan mission ceremony.

NDP MP Charlie Angus spoke to reporters about the housing crisis in Attawapiskat. The First Nation community of 2,000 is located near Angus’ riding of James Bay, Ontario.

NDP finance critic Peter Julian discussed the new Statistics Canada report which indicates that wages in Canada are not keeping up with the cost of living.
