NDP House leader Joe Comartin responded to questions about the future of health care and his party's motion that attempts to limit the Conservative government's use of closure and time allocation. NDP MP Charlie Angus spoke to reporters about the comments made by Aboriginal Affairs Minister John Duncan regarding the housing crisis in Attawapiskat. The First Nation community of approximately 2,000 residents is located near Angus' riding of James Bay, Ontario. NDP MP Robert Aubin discussed his private member's bill, which was tabled in October, that would extend French language rights to employees in Quebec who work in industries under federal jurisdiction. MPs had been debating the bill that afternoon in the House of Commons. The Conservatives announced yesterday that they will set up an advisory committee to study the use of French in Quebec companies that are federally regulated. Bloc Québécois MP André Bellavance also discussed the use of French in Quebec companies.
