Finance Minister Jim Flaherty spoke with reporters about concerns raised by Quebec over proposed changes to the Bank Act that are contained in the budget bill, the European financial crisis and government funding for environmental groups.

NDP deputy finance critic Guy Caron also spoke about the economic situation in Europe, government funding for environmental groups, and proposed changes to the Employment Insurance program.

Liberal Treasury Board critic John McCallum commented on Europe's economic crisis, as well as new party rules that are expected to allow interim Liberal Leader Bob Rae to run for the permanent leadership of the Liberal Party.

Bloc Québécois leader Daniel Paillé responded to questions about his party's amendments to the budget bill, Europe's economy and funding for environmental groups.
