Scrums - June 19, 2012

Industry Minister Christian Paradis spoke about his motion that calls for the recognition of Quebec`s right to pass legislation that falls within its jurisdiction. The motion is in response to criticism by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights over the province`s controversial protest law.

NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair and interim Liberal Leader Bob Rae responded to questions about the motion. The opposition leaders also commented on Jason Kenney`s email insult about the deputy premier of Alberta and on Canada`s invitation to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

MPs Blake Richards (Conservative) and Linda Duncan (NDP) also discussed minister Kenney`s email. The two MPs both represent ridings in Alberta.

Bloc Québécois leader Daniel Paillé offered his views on the motion by minister Paradis.
