Scrums - September 17, 2012

MPs returned to Parliament Hill today for the fall sitting of the House of Commons. NDP leader Thomas Mulcair spoke to reporters about issues including the Conservatives` claim that his party favours a carbon tax.

Liberal House Leader Marc Garneau and Liberal Deputy Leader Ralph Goodale commented on the government`s decision to appeal a Quebec court ruling on the long-gun registry and on China`s proposed takeover bid of Canadian oil and gas company Nexen.

Bloc Québécois leader Daniel Paillé and NDP justice critic Françoise Boivin also discussed the government`s appeal related to the long-gun registry.
