Linda Dale Gibbons v. Her Majesty the Queen (December 14, 2011)
Case # 33813
The appellant is a veteran protester against abortion clinics who is fighting a criminal charge for a civil violation.
In 2008, Gibbons was charged with breaching a civil injunction that prohibited her from displaying a protest sign within 60 feet of an abortion clinic. A civil court in Toronto issued a temporary injunction in 1994 around several abortion clinics at the request of the Ontario attorney general. Gibbons has been jailed several times since 1994, for a total of over eight years, for protesting too near to abortion clinics.
