The appellant was charged with possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking. The appellant was also charged with possession of currency obtained by the commission of an offence. The appellant was also charged with possession of currency obtained by the commission of an offence. The trial judge found that two of the appellant’s Charter rights had been violated. The judge found that the appellant's right to counsel and the right to be informed of reasons for arrest had been violated. The appellant was acquitted at trial. The Crown appealed, the appeal was allowed and a new trial was ordered.
