Attorney General of Quebec, et al. v. Attorney General of Canada
Case # 36231 Attorney General of Quebec, et al. v. Attorney General of Canada (April 24, 2015) On June 13, 2014, the Governor General of Canada appointed the Honourable Justice Robert Mainville to the Court of Appeal of Quebec. Rocco galati and the constitutional rights centre inc. sought judicial review of the appointment in the federal court. The judicial review was based on whether Justice Mainville could legally be appointed to the court of appeal of quebec in light of section 98 of the constitution act. As a member of the Federal Court of Appeal, at issue is whether someone from the federal court can be appointed to the Quebec Appeal Court.
