The court hears arguments in case #27363, Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association, et al. v. Attorney General of Ontario, on November 8, 2000.

The Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association, among several other appellants, argues that a new school funding scheme and governance model implemented in Ontario through the 1997 Education Quality Improvement Act (EQIA), which amended the Ontario Education Act, violates aspects of the Constitution Act of 1867. A second group of appellants, including the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association, et. al., also argues that the EQIA violates the Constitution in other ways.
