Foster Wheeler Power Company Ltd. sued the City of Montreal after the city cancelled the construction of a solid waste recycling centre and municipal incinerator. During the process of discovery, the city’s lawyers tried to obtain information related to the project’s legal framework. The municipal authorities responsible for the project refused, however, claiming that the information was protected by professional secrecy. The courts disagreed, and the City of Montreal has appealed to the Supreme Court.
