He was elected member of Quebec's National Assembly in 1970. From 1970 to 1972, He was minister for education, and from 1972 to 1976, he was minister for industry and commerce. Later, he held various positions with companies such as John Labatt, les Minoteries Ogilvie, and the SNC-Lavalin Group.
