Tête-à-Tête features people who have made headlines in French-speaking Canada. In this episode, Pierre Donais sits down with Alexandra Mendes.
Ms. Mendes has been the Liberal MP for the Quebec riding of Brossard—La Prairie since October 2008. She currently serves as the the Official Opposition Critic for the Economic Development Agency of Canada for Regions of Quebec, and Member of the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security. From 2001 to 2006, Ms. Mendes was Riding Assistant to Hon. Jacques Saada when he was an MP and minister.
Ms. Mendes is well known to the constituents of Brossard—La Prairie, whom she has served for the last 20 years, including as Executive Director of the MIRS (Maison Internationale de la Rive-Sud). A native of Portugal, Ms. Mendes speaks several languages and has a keen interest in issues dealing with rural development, international relations, immigration and citizenship.
Drawing on four decades of radio and TV experience, Pierre has a reputation for being as personable as he is astute. He joined CPAC in 2003 to host Revue Politique, a nightly review of the day’s politics for Francophone viewers. He also delves into the personal with guests on Tête à Tête. A former anchor and journalist at TQS and Télémédia CIMF-FM in Outaouais, Pierre also served as radio host and station manager. He has recently completed his Master’s degree in law at the University of Ottawa.
