Current Positions Available

Position: IT Systems Administrator

CPAC, the Cable Public Affairs Channel, is Canada's number one source of parliamentary and public affairs programming dedicated to political issues of importance to Canadians. CPAC has an immediate opening for an IT Systems Administrator. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, organized individual who meets the following qualifications:

Responsibilities Include:
  • Perform all day-to-day administration, maintenance, configuration and installation functions for CPAC’s IT infrastructure, which includes peripherals (printers, phones, photocopiers); desktops and laptops; servers; virtualization; cloud based applications; network hardware; software applications; and related cabling.
  • Support existing broadcast engineering infrastructure including web and mobile requirements, production and editing systems.
  • Arrange and monitor the training of staff in the use of IT systems/applications required for their jobs, and provide such training when appropriate.
  • Maintain and ensure the integrity of redundancy system including tape back up, archiving, off site storage and data restoration.
  • Perform on-site, remote and emergency technical support.
  • Research and recommend new software and hardware acquisitions.
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate or college degree in computer science, information systems, or computer engineering.
  • Recognized certifications for Microsoft Desktop and Server environments.
  • Demonstrated technical understanding or certification with SQL, Linux (RHEL, Debian), VMware vSphere, and network and SAN architecture.
  • Two years experience in information technology and systems administration.
  • Experience with Quantum Stornext File System, Storage Manager, and Scalar robotic tape library is an asset.
  • Experience with high performance computing applications and storage solutions in a media and entertainment marketplace from vendors such NetApp, DataDirect Networks, or equivalent desired.
  • Previous experience in a television/broadcast environment would be an asset as would experience with broadcast newsroom and media asset management systems.
  • Familiar with web servers (IIS, Apache), web hosting, and video streaming.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is preferred.
  • Must be available to work shifts, evenings and weekends, and to be on call on an emergency basis. Typical works hours are Monday to Friday, Noon – 8pm.

Sorry but Bell is holding back A LOT of information about consumers preferred choice 3 year contracts compared to 1 and 2 years.

I agree with Hagop Barounian. Currently, postpaid plans and prepaid plans are COMPLETELY separate!
