Revue Politique

We recap today's Question Period.

Pierre Donais welcomes representatives from the three main federal political parties in the House of Commons: Lysane Blanchette-Lamothe (NDP), Jacques Gourde (Conservative), and John McCallum (Liberal).

Following a series of incidents last week involving the Senate, including the case of Senator Patrick Brazeau, an increasing number of experts are beginning to question the upper chamber's very existence. Should the Harper government abolish the Senate? Sébastien Grammond, dean of civil law at the University of Ottawa, discusses this and other related issues.

William Johnson, a political commentator, provides his perspective on various issues raised on Parliament Hill.

Pierre, for once just once tell the whole story about the senate. Tell the public what the liberals appointed senators did-some of them abuse their position and one in particular lived in MEXICO while collecting taxpayers dollars. Once in a while this LIBERAL senator made an appearance. Yet, not once did we hear an outcry outrage or anything for that matter from any of you in the media. In 2006 PM Harper personally sat at the liberal committee to discuss reforming the senate where he read from a book from a 'past' senator who said the 'senate needs reforming'. I am amazed that none of you in the media mentioned this.
