CPAC gets 5 year licence renewal
(OTTAWA – August 9, 2013) - Yesterday, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) renewed the broadcasting licence for the Cable Public Affairs Channel (CPAC) for a period of five years, effective September 1, 2013.
The CRTC’s decision sends an important message about the value of CPAC’s Parliamentary and public affairs programming to all Canadians and reflects how CPAC enhances and promotes Canada’s democratic process.
“This decision allows CPAC to continue providing Canadians with a clear, unobstructed and unbiased window on Canada’s democracy and is possible because of the extraordinary partnership between CPAC and Parliament. Canada’s cable industry shares the Commission’s view that CPAC is integral to maintaining and enhancing Canada’s national identity and looks forward to continuing to provide Canadians in every region unfiltered access to parliamentary proceedings and top quality public affairs coverage in both official languages,” said Ken Stein, Chair of CPAC’s Board of Directors.
“CPAC’s Board of Directors is extremely proud of its contribution to the democratic process through CPAC and looks forward to a continued partnership with both the House of Commons and the Senate.”
In addition to Parliamentary programming, CPAC also offers complete coverage of key speeches and public affairs events, Supreme Court of Canada proceedings and political analysis programs as well as access to thousands of hours of historical parliamentary proceedings and CPAC shows on the CPAC Digital Archive via our web site at www.cpac.ca.
