NDP MP Brian Masse was born and raised in South Windsor and since 2002 has represented the riding of Windsor West in the nation's capital. Brian had no inkling that he would become a politician when he was growing up, in fact his childhood aspiration was to be a police officer, but an incident involving the rezoning of a Windsor property to allow a night club propelled Brian into the world of politics. A well organized campaign led by Brian helped defeat the proposal and during the following municipal election, Brian was elected to city council where he stayed for five years until he was elected to the House of Commons in 2002. Married to Terry Chow, they have two children, Alexandria and Wade. Brian Masse spoke to Catherine Clark about his life Beyond Politics.
