Beyond Politics

Conservative MP Eve Adams is seen as one of the bright lights on Parliament Hill. The MP for Mississauga Brampton South is the daughter of Hungarian immigrants who fled the European country during the chaotic days of the ill-fated revolution of 1956. Eve's father fled the country and landed in Sudbury, Ontario where he first worked in the mines before launching a business running gas stations and a restaurant. When Eve was 18 she became a parliamentary page and found herself with a front row seat during the constitutional debates. Eve earned a degree in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario and when she was 29 ran for Mississauga City Council. In a field of 21 candidates, Eve came out on top and spent the next seven years serving the residents of Ward 5. In 2011 Adams made the jump to federal politics and defeated the Liberal incumbent by over 5,000 votes. The proud mother of 7 year old Jeffrey, Eve Adams spoke to Catherine Clark about her life Beyond Politics.
