Conservative MP for Kitchener-Conestoga, Harold Albrecht, grew up on a farm in Wilmot Township just outside of Kitchener, Ontario. One of seven children, Harold was the only member of the family to attend university, in dentistry, and ran a successful practice for over 25 years. As a member of the Brethren In Christ Church, Harold often travelled throughout Central America offering his professional skills with relief efforts sponsored by the Christian Medical-Dental Society. After 27 years, Harold left dentistry to become a pastor of the congregation at the newly established Pathway Community Church in South Kitchener. In 2006, Harold was approached to run by the Conservatives and narrowly defeated long time Liberal Lynn Myers. The father of three children, two boys and one girl, Harold lost his wife and partner of 39 years, Betty, only two days after being re-elected in May of 2011.
