Liberal MP Kirsty Duncan was first elected in 2008 in the riding of Etobicoke North, the same riding she was born and raised in. Kirsty’s mother is Ukrainian, her father Scottish and both encouraged Kirsty in academics and sport. Kirsty excelled in gymnastics and in highland dancing which she still teaches. Kirsty did her graduate studies at the University of Edinburgh in geography and taught meteorology and climatology at the University of Windsor. Duncan loves to run and has participated in several Boston marathons. She once ran from Sudbury to Toronto for the Make- A- Wish Foundation. In 2008, the incumbent MP, Liberal Wayne Cullen announced he was resigning and Kirsty was encouraged to put her name forward. Kirsty won and was re-elected in 2011.
